As you descend the impressive “Jacob’s Ladder” into the heart of the mine, you’ll be transported to a world where generations of miners once worked. The caverns have been thoughtfully preserved and enhanced with realistic sound effects that bring the mining experience to life, creating an immersive journey through time. Each chamber has been carefully themed to showcase different aspects of the mining process and the lives of those who worked here.
The self-guided nature of the tour allows you to explore at your own pace, taking time to absorb the atmospheric underground world and its rich history. Hard hats are provided for your safety, though bringing your own torch is recommended for exploring the darker corners. The caverns can be damp, so sturdy shoes and a waterproof jacket are advisable for maximum comfort.
Your underground adventure culminates in a spectacular emergence to breathtaking views across Cardigan Bay and the surrounding landscape. For families, the experience can be combined with a visit to the on-site Children’s Farm Park, making it a perfect day out for all ages. The caverns are open from April to October, with adjusted hours during different seasons, and special events are often hosted during school holidays.
